Over a decade ago I thought it would be an excellent idea to buy a bunch of servers and get into hosting. I bought many Apple xServes, both the 2006 and 2008 models and an Apple Raid. I still have these.
In April 2015 I made a decision to end of life our hosting services. The bespoke applications that we hosted were becoming fewer and far between and had grown in complexity to the point that all were bing deployed on the AWS cloud and being managed as DevOps with Chef, Ansible, and Salt configurations.
Devops and sysadmin work is one of our favorite things, we enjoy managing servers for other companies to augment their staff and help save money.
While we love to manage complex applications we no longer will provide infrastructure to do that. We instead realy on trusted services like AWS, Linode and Digital Ocean for bespoke productions stacks and 9Fold and Heroku for Rails applications.
